Margie Earlene Ray Brooks Lowery

July 6, 1939 — May 19, 2015

Margie Brooks Ray Lowery, daughter of the late Early and Margaret Brooks of Campton, Georgia, born in Fair Bluff, North Carolina, died on Tuesday, May 19, 2015.

Ms. Lowery was a graduate of Needham B. Broughton High School and Rex Hospital School of Nursing, both in Raleigh, North Carolina. She practiced as a Registered Nurse in the nursing home industry in Lancaster, South Carolina, Macon and Warner Robins. Ms. Lowery was an RN Consultant with Catawba Community Mental Health Center and homes for the mentally retarded in Lancaster. Upon moving to Macon, she held the position of Director of Nursing Services at Macon Health Care Center in Macon, Brian Center Nursing Care in Jeffersonville, and Warner Robins Rehab Center in Warner Robins. Ms. Lowery was also a clinical nursing instructor at Middle Georgia Technical College Nursing Program in Warner Robins.

Prior to her death, she was retired as a contracted employee with the Medical College of Georgia providing nursing services to the Georgia State Department of Corrections at Pulaski State Prison and Dodge State Prison Medical Department. Ms. Lowery was nominated to 'National Nurses' 'Who's Who' in 1987.

Ms. Lowery is a member of Lynnwood Methodist Church in Lancaster where she was active as a young adult Sunday School teacher and Women's Missionary Society while she resided in Lancaster. During her nursing career, Ms. Lowery was involved in education of nursing assistants for nursing home employment and certification of nursing assistants.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Ray Brophy (Stephen) and son, Robert Daniel Ray, both of Orlando, Florida; sister, Linda Faulk of Hendersonville, North Carolina; brothers, Edwin Brooks of Monroe, Georgia and Marion D. "Butch" Brooks of Valdosta, Georgia; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

All services are private.
