Maria D. Bodenhamer, 68, of Kathleen, Georgia, passed away quietly on Monday, August 5, 2024, at Houston Medical Center.
Born in Barcelona, Spain, Maria was the daughter of the late James and Remedios Vinson. While her family served in the military, they moved from Barcelona to various stateside bases before finding their home in Virginia Beach, Virginia. It was there that Maria met the love of her life, John Randall Bodenhamer. The couple embarked on a journey together through several Air Force postings, eventually making Warner Robins their home in 1984.
Maria’s professional life was marked by dedication and service. She worked at the Base Exchange, served as a bank teller, and later found her calling as a Paraprofessional with the Houston County Board of Education, where she retired after serving for 13 years.
A passionate traveler, Maria delighted in exploring the world with her family. Whether camping or cruising, she reveled in visiting almost all the Caribbean islands and creating cherished memories with loved ones along the way.
She is survived by her husband John Randall Bodenhamer of 48 years of Kathleen; son, Jason Curtis Bodenhamer of Kathleen; and brother, James Vinson (Gildi) of San Juan, Puerto Rico; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 8, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Maria D. Bodenhamer will be laid to rest in Georgia Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery.
