Marie Boney Douglas, 85 passed away on Saturday, February 11th after a brief illness. She had lived in Warner Robins for 65 years, the first 35 of which she worked as a budget analyst at Robins Air Force Base
Marie was born March 2, 1937, to Miles and Mary Jo Boney (deceased), in the China Hill community of Telfair County, GA. She helped out on the farm, helped raise her younger sisters, and excelled in school and sports – eventually becoming both class Valedictorian and most athletic of her high school class. Marie had four sisters: Chessie Clair Carpenter (deceased), Betty Jo Vannier, Jackie Pierce, and Bobbie Belle White.
While living in Warner Robins, Marie was an active community member, participating in multiple clubs and service organizations. She attended First United Methodist Church for over 60 years, serving on many committees and visiting shut-ins. She played competitive bridge, becoming a bronze life master and winning many a dollar off her opponents.
Marie cared for her husband who has vascular dementia devotedly for 10 years, before being diagnosed with dementia herself. We are so grateful to Marie and Bill’s caregivers, especially Florine, who helped her live at home until her last breath.
Marie is survived by her husband of 64 years, William Douglas; her son, Bill Douglas (Lisa) of Bishop, GA; her daughter, Dena Hobbs (Jason) of Bonaire, GA; her grandchildren, Will Douglas (Lauren) of Athens, GA, Ella Douglas Brigagliano (John) of Atlanta, GA, Libby Hobbs of Bonaire, GA, and Eli Hobbs of Bonaire, GA; and her three great-grandchildren, Woodson Douglas, Wallace Douglas, and Callie Brigagliano.
