Marie Duncan

On Friday, January 8, 2021, Eolin Marie Duncan passed away at the Summerhill Senior Living Community. She was 94 years old.

Marie was born on September 3, 1926, in Memphis, Tennessee, to the late Dewey Brookins and Marguerite Graham. A Marine Corps wife, family was the most important part of Marie’s life and she devoted every minute of it to them. Marie was a great storyteller and her family enjoyed hearing the many stories she would pass down, especially the ones about her family’s history. Passionate about bowling, Marie was a fantastic league bowler. She was dearly loved and will be sorely missed.

Her memory will forever be treasured by children, Patrick Duncan (Sheila) of Warner Robins and Ann Surmiak (Hilory) of Niceville, Florida; grandchildren, Kevin James Duncan, Timothy P. Duncan, Joel K. Duncan, Melanie D. Duncan, Samantha Hartzo, Andrew Surmiak, Paul Surmiak, Kara Owen; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Janet Hester and Lola Bannanto; and sister-in-law, Roslyn Brookins.

In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband of 60½ years, James Warren Duncan; three brothers; and one sister.

Visitation with Marie’s family will be Monday, January 11, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The graveside service celebrating her life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at Magnolia Park Cemetery with Reverend Jeff Cleghorn officiating. Following the service, Marie will be laid to rest next to her husband in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
