Marigene Jernigan Jones, 90, entered peacefully into the Kingdom of God on April 27, 2012 at her daughter's home in Warner Robins, Ga.
Mrs. Jones was born on July 6, 1921 in Dublin, Georgia, the only daughter of the late James Porter Jernigan, Sr. and Sallie Mae Hodges Jernigan. A person of great warmth and humility,
Mrs. Jones was a devoted wife of 61 years, a nurturing mother and accomplished homemaker.
A fantastic cook and hostess, Mrs. Jones was the embodiment of southern hospitality. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Warner Robins.
Preceded in death by her are her husband John Thomas "Tom" Jones, Sr. and four brothers, James Porter Jernigan, Jr., Clifford Hodges Jernigan, Malcolm McGowen Jernigan, William Edmonson Jernigan, sisters-in-law Grace Berryhill Jernigan, Mildred Morrison Jernigan, Coleman Swinson Jones and Grace Sasser Jones and brothers-in-law William Bartow Jones, Sr. and Julian Webb Jones
Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Marisue J. Barfield (Lionel) of Warner Robins, Patricia J. Abney (Wes) of Wilson, NC and John Thomas Jones, Jr. (Becky) of Wilmington, NC. She is also survived by grandchildren Lisa S. Silverman (Jay), Laura S. Mobley (Jess), Miranda Abney, Walker Lee Abney, Sr. (Allison), Leigh Jones, Anna Jones and great grandchildren Jack Silverman (Lora), Stacy Powell, Christopher Silverman (Sarah), Sarah Mobley and Walker Lee Abney II and great-great grandchildren Kamren Powell, Michael Silverman, Abigail Silverman, Kylie Anglin and Jasalynn Miller. Also surviving are sisters-in-law Mary Ann Johnson and Lucille Jernigan, eight nieces and six nephews.
The family will receive friends at McCullough funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Sunday, April 29, 2012. Funeral services for Mrs. Jones will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, April 30, 2012 at Christ United Methodist Church with Reverend Richard Soper and Chaplain Todd Shearin officiating; Interment will be at Dublin Memorial Gardens.
