Martha Annette Crumley Shields

Martha Annette Crumley Shields, age 86, went to be with the Lord after an extended illness on Friday, January 3, 2025.

Annette was born March 3, 1938 to the late Richard Curtis Crumley and Elizabeth Hansen Crumley in Jefferson, Georgia. She worked over 30 years as a Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base and was a faithful member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church and the Donald Black Sunday School Class for over 30 years. She immensely enjoyed spending time with her family, and cherished time with her two granddaughters and eating Keith’s cooking.

Annette is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, James Harold Shields, brothers David Crumley and Dickie (LaDonna) Crumley, sister, Roberta (Fred) Carruth, sister-in-law Juanita (Johnny) Williamson, Reba (Bill) Storey and infant grandson James Robert “Bobby” Shields.

Annette is survived by her sons James Keith (Sandi Lollis) Shields of Byron and Kenneth Wade (Hope Hahn) Shields of Juliette, granddaughters Erika Shields of Atlanta and Ella Wade Shields of Juliette, grandsons Julian (Laura) Ellis of Elbert, CO, Bryan (Janie) Ellis of Tuscaloosa, AL and Chase Ellis of Centennial, CO and great grandchildren Zoey, Cade, Jackson and Charlie, sisters-in-law, Rachel Reed Crumley of Bonaire, and Eloise Archer of Athens, as well as a large extended family.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Villa Rose in Byron for their exceptional care and love for Annette.

Visitation will be Shirley Hills Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Shirley Hills Baptist Church. A funeral service celebrating Annette’s life will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. Afterward, Martha Annette Crumley Shields will be laid to rest in the Magnolia Park Mausoleum. 

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to Shirley Hills Baptist Church, at 615 Corder Rd., Warner Robins, GA 31088.
