Martha Janice Blecher Frier, 78, entered into rest on Saturday, November 4, 2023.
Martha was born on January 5, 1945, in Spartanburg, South Carolina to the late Howard and Ethel Belcher. She grew up in the small community of Startex, South Carolina. She went on to graduate from Byrnes High School in Duncan and attended Cecil’s Business College in Spartanburg. After school, she worked for Draper Corp. in Spartanburg for two years before marrying and moving to Florida where James “J.J.” was stationed for flight school. She was married to James Jarrett Frier, II, her high school sweetheart. At the time of his death in July 2018, they were married for 52 years. Martha was a stay-at-home mom and military wife (USMC) for quite a few years. After moving to Warner Robins in 1977, she went to work as a Para Pro with the Houston County School System in special education for 8 years. In 1985, she became manager of The Senior Center with the Older Americans Council for 20 years and Middle Georgia Community Action Agency for 2 years, retiring in 2007. She enjoyed traveling, sports (especially the Atlanta Falcons and the Atlanta Braves), cooking (she was a wonderful southern cook), and spending time with friends and family. Her two grandsons were “The Delight of her Life” and she was always there for anyone whenever she could be.
In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband, James Jarrett “J.J.” Frier.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her two sons, Jim Frier and Jarrett Frier (Teri); two grandsons, Hayden and Dane; and brother, Larry Belcher (Myra), nephews, Marty Belcher and Kevin Belcher (Yvonne), niece, Beth Hipp (Jake), and great-nephew, Adler Belcher.
