On Sunday, April 11, 2021, Martha Jane Hargis, was welcomed with open arms into her eternal home by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and by her beloved husband and son, Jim Hargis and James DeLee. She was 76 years old.
Born in Milledgeville, Georgia on June 12, 1944, Martha was the daughter of the late James Dudley Richardson, Sr. and Martha Ida Sheppard Richardson. She retired with 41 years of dedicated Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base. Martha will be remembered by all who knew her as a godly woman who fiercely loved the Lord. She was a faithful, longtime member of Houston Lake Baptist Church and the Echo Sunday School class, but also enjoyed attending Friendship Baptist Church. With Houston Lake Baptist, she was honored to serve the Prison Ministry at Pulaski County Women’s Correctional Facility. Martha was also a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association, though her absolute favorite times were spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving daughter, Diane Tyus of Kathleen; stepdaughter, Shelley Leeper of Chapmansboro, Tennessee; grandchildren, Krystle Heath, Justin Rogers and Levi Duffey; great-grandchildren, Taylore Martin, Mickell Smith, Kierstyn Smith and Kamber Heath; brother, James Richardson, Jr. (Jeanelle) of Newnan; niece, Darlene Churchill (Jimmy) of Byron; great-nieces; and a great-nephew.
Martha’s family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2021, at Houston Lake Baptist Church, with Reverend Fred McCoy and Dr. Paul Cowles officiating.
