Martha Rich Ard

Martha Rich Ard, 68, entered into rest on Wednesday, May 31, 2023.

Martha was born on January 1, 1955, in Quitman, Georgia to the late Malachi and Hilda Rich. She retired from the state of Georgia after more than 30 years of service as a case worker. She enjoyed gardening, particularly planting flowers in her yard. She enjoyed decorating her home for every season. In her free time, she loved bunco, bridge, and couples golf with her husband. She was lovingly known as “Mott Mott’ to her grandchildren and loved ones. She will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her siblings, Joe Rich, Mary Rich Pierce, and her husband, George Pierce.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her husband, Clarence S. Ard, Jr.; daughters, Carly Rebecca Ard Shaw, and Laurie Elizabeth Ard Stevenson (Chuck); grandchildren, Madison Rebecca Stanley, Connor Stevenson, and Logan Stevenson; siblings, James Rich (Judy), John Rich (Cheryl), and Paul Rich (Mary); along with five nieces, six nephews, and a host of cousins and extended family members.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 3, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Central Baptist Church. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. Afterward, Martha will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
