Marvin Cecil Miller, 81, entered into rest on Friday, April 24, 2009.
Mr. Miller was born on March 24, 1928 in Phenix City, Alabama. With pride and honor, he served his country in the United State Navy as a Quarter Master and participated in the Korean Conflict. After his military career, he went to work for the Georgia Theater in Columbus. They transferred him to Macon where he oversaw three theaters; the Grand Theater, Capital Theater and Ralato Theater. He hosted shows for the legends like Hank Williams, Sr., and Earnest Tubb.
Cecil was as active member of the golf community, known as "Down the Middle Miller", where he played every Sunday and Tuesday, while continuing to work five days a week. Yearly vacations were always scheduled around tee times, as Cecil continued to stay active throughout his entire life. A member of the Tyrian Lodge #111 of Warner Robins working under the Grand Lodge of Georgia and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, he was also a member of the Al Sihah Shriners Temple of Macon, Houston County Shrine Club and the Royal Order of Jesters. He was proud to be head of the Golf Committee with the Shriners, as well as being President of the Macon Eagles Club.
Cecil spent over fifty years in the automobile industry, while working for well-known dealerships as Barney A. Smith, Tom Stimus, and for the past sixteen years with Bill Butler Dodge in Warner Robins. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Miller; parents, S.H. Miller and Carrie Cook Miller.
His memory will forever be treasured by his niece, Veeda (John) Chambers, Byron; and his many friends that he considered his chosen family. Cecil has touched all our hearts and will be missed by us all. He was one of a kind.
