Marvin Gene Harley, 69, passed away peacefully, consoled by his loving sisters on December 14, 2022.
Mr. Harley was born on January 8, 1953 in Montgomery, Alabama to the late Marvin L. and Genie Mae Milligan Harley. Raised in a military family, he developed a love of hunting while the family was stationed in Cheyenne, Wyoming. From Wyoming, the Harleys later were transferred to Japan and then to Homestead Air Force Base, Florida where the young Harley brothers were joined by two sisters. It was in Florida that Mr. Harley fostered his love for fishing as he and his older brother joined their father on weekly fishing trips to Flamingo Bay. After his father retired from the Air Force, the family settled in Middle Georgia where the family hunting and fishing traditions continued on their own property as well as the Ocmulgee River and Big Indian Creek.
As a young man, Mr. Harley enjoyed his Ford Ranchero muscle car as well as his motorcycle which he rode to California and back. After his retirement from Continental Can Company, his health began to decline. His sisters and brother helped him establish a home at Brittany’s Place in Jeffersonville, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents and his niece, Jessica.
He will be lovingly remembered by his siblings, Arnold Dale Harley (Sharon), Della Harley Griffore (Ronald), and Leila Harley Anderson (Christopher); his niece, Camille; and his nephew, William French, Jr.
Dear Brother Gene, may you rest in peace.
