Mary Alice Smith Sapp

March 20, 1934 — July 22, 2019

Mary Sapp, 85, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, July 22, 2019. Mary, the daughter of the late Leon and Lois Smith, was born in Jackson, Georgia. A phenomenal singer, Mary and her friend recorded a record together in high school and it became popular among the town. Everyone thought that one day she was going to sing at the Grand Ole Opry. At the age of 19, Mary went to live with her aunt in Warner Robins. It was there that she met the love of her life, Mr. Gary. In less than a year of knowing each other, they got married, and together they left the farming lifestyle. They never just stayed at home, and loved going out and about.

Mary was the perfect example of a wife and mother, family was her main priority. She was sweet, loving, caring, and kind. Staying at home, Mary was very meticulous about keeping a clean house which left an imprint on her children. Mary always showed her love and had a giving heart. She would help anyone in need. As a family, they enjoyed camping and spending time with all of their family members. An irreplaceable woman, Mary was a true light to her family and will forever be missed by many.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her sisters, Eleanor Smith, and Joyce Miller; and son-in-law, Danny Dixon.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving husband of 65 years, Gary Clifford Sapp; children, Dennis Sapp (Millee), Darlene Dixon, Dale Sapp (Sheila), Darrell Sapp; grandchildren, Alyson Sapp, Damon Wolfe, Ryan Wolfe (Crystal), David Sapp, Rachel Massey (Winston), Corinne Stokes (Taylor), Victoria P. Derrico; several grand-grandchildren; siblings, Glenn Smith (Pebbles), Lou Ann Cook (Mark), both of Jackson, Georgia.

At the family’s request, all services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Mary Alice Smith Sapp to Sardis Baptist Church at 2120 Keys Ferry Road, McDonough, Georgia 30252.

McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with these arrangements.
