Mary J. McCool, 75, returned to her Father in Heaven on the evening of Saturday, October 17, 2020.
Born in Gadsden, Alabama, on March 14, 1945, Mary was the daughter of the late Ward Runyon and Florine Jones Meeks. She retired from Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base and was a talented seamstress. Mary was more importantly a faithful and longtime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; she was passionate in her love for her Savior. This was demonstrated in the way she lived her life: diligent in caring for and helping others and generously serving.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marvin McCool, Jr.; son, Tom Eddie Meeks; and brother, Clifford Alan Pitts.
Mary is survived by her loving son, Marco Couch of Warner Robins; nephew, Larry Reed (Amanda); brothers, Michael Meeks (Deborah) of Eight Mile, Alabama and Jerome Meeks (Wendy) of Warner Robins; and sister, Terri Patrick of Gadsden, Alabama.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2020, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Bishop Kenneth Kozak officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. On the following day, Mary will be laid to rest next to her son, Tom Eddie, in a graveside service, at Valhalla Memorial Gardens in Semmes, Alabama, at 2:00 p.m. CST/3:00 p.m. EST.
Memorial donations may be given in memory of Mary to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 200 Draper St., Warner Robins, GA 31088.
