Mary Jo Orta passed away on November 28th, 2021 at the age of 68.
Born on July 12th, 1953 in Poteet, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Tony and Mary Lozano. She was a graduate of Jourdanton High School and began her civil service career as a secretary at Kelly Air Force Base and retired as a Resource Advisor at Robins Air Force Base.
Mary Jo dedicated her life to her family, and lived to spend time with her late husband, children, and especially her grandchildren. She had a heart for the underserved in our country, and never turned down the opportunity to help an animal in need. However, she was happiest on family trips to the beach, mountains, and to Mardi Gras in New Orleans.
She is survived by her children Andy Orta, Richard Orta (Trisha), and Stephanie English; brothers Roy Lozano and Leonard Lozano; sister-in-law Judi Gamez (Rusty); grandchildren Jasmine, Bella, Lucas, and Mary Corbin, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Orta, sister Dorothy Lozano, mother and father Tony and Mary Lozano, mother-in-law and father-in-law Trinidad and Irene Orta, and son-in-law Chris English.
Services will be held Saturday, December 11th at St. Philips Benizi in Poteet, Texas. A rosary will begin at 11:00 a.m. with mass to follow at 12:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held immediately following at the Lozano Family Ranch.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Mary Jo’s memory to Georgia Canine Rescue Rehab, 235 Mac Thompson Road, Cochran, GA 31014.
