Mary “Louise” Wade, 79, of Milledgeville, Georgia, passed away peacefully at the Savannah Court of Milledgeville on Monday morning, August 26, 2024.
Born on November 19, 1944, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, Louise was the daughter of the late Richard Howard Lee and Mary Lou Williams Lee. After graduating from Warner Robins High School, she dedicated her career to food service with the Houston County Board of Education. Louise became affectionately known as the “Ice Cream Lady” at Matt Arthur Elementary School. Her commitment to her community was further exemplified through her service as a board member at Parkwood Elementary.
Louise was also a talented bowler. She worked at the Gold Cup Bowling (formerly, Freedom Lanes) on Russell Parkway for over two decades and played in the Money Bags League. Of the Christian faith, she was a good Christian lady. Louise was a devoted member of Southside Baptist Church, where she volunteered, participated in the Nifty 50’s Sunday School Class, and was president of the Amazing Grays seniors. Her love for social activities was also evident in her involvement with the Canasta Club and Tops #106.
As a doting grandmother, Louise had a special gift for creating joyful memories. Her home was a haven for her grandchildren and their cousins and friends, whom she welcomed with open arms to what they affectionately called “Camp Grandma.” Each visit was a new adventure, filled with laughter, creativity, and the warmth of her love. Louise took great delight in making scrapbooks that captured the precious moments shared with her grandchildren, preserving these memories with care and love.
In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her husband, James Aaron Wade; siblings, James, Vickie, and Oren Lee.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Melanie Robinson (Ken Jr.) of Bonaire and Carl Wade (Pamela) of Milledgeville; grandchildren, Mary Jo Robinson Keeble (Trevor) and Ken Robinson, III, of Bonaire, as well as C.J. and Charles (Maeghan) Wade of Milledgeville; seven great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other beloved extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 28, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church with the funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. Afterward, Mary “Louise” Wade will be laid to rest in Parkway Memorial Gardens.
