Mary ''Margaret'' Powers

May 12, 1923 — October 20, 2002

Mary “Margaret” Powers was born May 12, 1923 in Choctaw County, Mississippi, to the late James Stewart and Lula Taylor Johnston. She married her sweetheart, Harold Glenn Powers, on April 8, 1943, and God blessed them with three beautiful children, Peggy, Betty Ann, and Harold, Jr.

In 1959, Margaret and her family moved to Warner Robins. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church and was also involved in many community activities.

On Sunday evening, October 20, 2002, after a long illness, God returned the love that Margaret had given to so many by calling her home to eternal rest and peace. For that, we, her family and friends, are grateful.

Preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers, James Raymond and William A. Johnston.

Survivors include her husband, Harold, and children, Peggy Jo Veal-Kolbe (husband Alan), Betty Ann Barree (husband Buddy), and Harold G. Powers, Jr. (wife Marsha). Margaret had seven grandchildren: Bill Lonnard (wife Jeannie), Penny Alves (husband Bob), Phoenix Powers, Amber Powers, Paul Wood, Billy South, and Mary Ann Massey. She had three great grandchildren, Matthew, Nicholas, and Faith.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 24 at First Presbyterian Church with interment following in Andersonville National Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 7:00 until 9:00 pm at McCullough Funeral Home.
