Mary Ward Hunter, 87, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2015.
Mary was born on March 3, 1928 in Tarrytown, Georgia. She worked at the Base Exchange at Robins Air Force Base until her retirement after 30 years of service. Mary was a delight to be around, in her spare time she enjoyed babysitting and sewing. She was a devoted mother who loved her family above all else.
Her husbands, Henry Jack Thompson and later Bobby Lee Hunter; daughters, Martha "Marty" Robinson and Debra A. Matthews; granddaughter, Tiara Franks; parents, Hiram and Bessie Brown Ward; and 7 siblings, preceded her in death.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving children, Tommy Thompson of Warner Robins, Johnny Thompson (Tammy) of Hawkinsville, Betty Waldroup (James) of Eatonton, Jackie Barnett of Warner Robins; 11grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 1 great great-grandson, sisters, Ruby Hendricks and Ernestine Henley both of Jacksonville, Florida; many nieces and nephews; as well as her special friend and sister-in-law, Onis Wages.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 28, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 pm in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with interment in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
