Max Elbert Ennis, Sr., passed away on the morning of Thursday, October 8, 2020. He was 82 years old.
Born in Grove Township, North Carolina, Max was the son of the late Darnell Jones and Lola Mae Ennis House. In 1956, Max enlisted in the United States Air Force as an Airman where he served his country for nearly six years. Following his time in the service, Max insulated pipes, boilers, and ducts with Union Local #48 for many years.
In his spare time, Max had a passion for rebuilding and restoration; he could be found tinkering in his garage and working on old street rods. Max also had a deep and unconditional love for his family members and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with each of them.
In addition to Max’s parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Faye G. Ennis; son, Max E. Ennis, Jr.; and granddaughter, Haley Byrd.
His memory will forever be cherished by his three daughters, Kathy Dunn (Eddie) of Lizella; Kim Mills (Ken) of Milledgeville; and Karen Crowley (Sean) of Macon; grandchildren, Jason, Brad, Kenny, Bobbie Faye, and Hunter; and six great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry Hester of North Carolina; several beloved cousins; and one aunt.
Visitation will be Friday, October 9, 2020, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A graveside service celebrating the life of Mr. Ennis will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 11, 2020, at Barbours Chapel Advent Church Cemetery, 164 Barbours Chapel Road, Four Oaks, North Carolina, 27524.
