Melba Louise Gassett Horne, born on August 9, 1935, in Macon, Georgia, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2025, at the age of 89. She was the beloved daughter of the late General Forrest Gassett and Ruth Sullivan Gassett.

A proud graduate of Miller High School, Melba spent her life in Macon, Georgia, where she worked for 47 years at Robins Air Force Base. She retired as an Item Manager Supervisor, having dedicated her career to her work with unwavering commitment.

Throughout her life, Melba was a member of Mabel White Baptist Church, where she found strength in her faith and was deeply involved in her community. Known for her joyful spirit, she loved life and found joy in the simplest moments. Her laughter was infectious, and her heart was open to all. She loved everyone unconditionally, offering kindness and compassion to everyone she encountered.

Melba was more than a mother, grandmother, and friend — she was a source of love, support, and inspiration to all who knew her. Her passing leaves a void that will never be filled, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Along with her parents, Melba was preceded in death by her husband, William Horne.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her daughters, Robin Davis, Sharon Wilbanks (Ralph), Karen Horne and Debra Bryant (Tony); and grandchildren, Benjamin Bryant (Nicole) and Chris Davis.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Melba Horne to the Kingdom Group Home at 6535 Johnson Road, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401.
