Merle J. Giddens, 84, walked into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, April 12, 2018.
Merle was born in Forsyth, Georgia on October 13, 1933 to the late Rolfe H. and Nannie Kate Grant Johnson. She retired from Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base in 1993 and was a devoted member of Central Baptist Church where she taught English as a second language. Merle also enjoyed cooking, fishing, and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Barneille and Bill Johnson; and sisters, Janie Ruth Johnson Stewart, Dorothy Johnson Marshall, and Imogene Johnson Vincent.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving husband, Harold Giddens of Warner Robins; children, Melanie Thoens (Bob) of Alexandria, Virginia and Carey Giddens (Celesta) of Macon; grandchildren, Cade and Cullen Giddens; siblings, David Johnson of Calhoun and Gloria Johnson Nix of Forsyth; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 14, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, 2018 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Dr. Bob Dilks officiating. Afterwards, Mrs. Giddens will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in memory of Mrs. Giddens to Central Baptist Church, 1120 Lake Joy Rd., Warner Robins, GA 31088 or Heart of Georgia Hospice, 103 Westridge Dr., Warner Robins, GA 31088.
