Merrill Dane Harris

Merrill Dane Harris, 84, entered into rest on Saturday, October 11, 2014.

Merrill was born on January 3, 1930, in Marion, Indiana. He proudly served four years in the United States Navy and retired from RCA after thirty-two years of service.

As a younger man, he loved racing in dirt track cars and collected British sports cars. Merrill's passion was for Formula 1 racing. Merrill and his wife, Joyce, sailed around for a few years aboard their yacht, Camelot, in the Caribbean and other islands. Later in 2006, they moved to Warner Robins, Georgia and have been residents ever since.

Merrill's parents, Jesse and Sara Harris; sister, Virginia Holloway; and brother, J. Eldon Harris, preceded him in death.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of thirty years, Joyce Ann Harris of Warner Robins, Georgia; sons, Michael J. Harris (Pam) of Marion, Indiana, Douglas I. Harris (Amy) of Avilla, Indiana and Mark D. Paugh of Media, Pennsylvania; daughter, Kimberly J. Thompson (Jay) of Greenwood, Indiana; stepson, Mark A. VanOsdol (Eva) of England; stepdaughter, Lana S. Barnett of Percy, Arkansas; eight granddaughters; one grandson; two great-granddaughters; four great-grandsons; one nephew, Larry A. Harris (Kay) of Gas City, Indiana; sister-in-law, Judi Bender (William) of Alexandria, Indiana; and niece, Tammy Morrical (Doug) of Crossville, Tennessee.
