Michael “Mike” Tillman Campbell, 64, entered into rest on Thursday, January 18, 2024.
Mike was born on December 1, 1959, in Macon, Georgia to the late Philip Campbell, Sr. and Betty Tillman Campbell. He attended Pensacola Christian College and Bethany Bible College, earning a bachelor’s degree in ministry. He spent over 50 years combined ministering at Southside Baptist Church as an associate pastor, Bethel Baptist as an associate pastor, and Tabernacle Baptist as pastor. He also worked at Anchor Glass and Houston County School District as a bus driver. Often referred to as “Red”, Mike married his high school sweetheart, Sherry, whom he spent 45 wonderful years with as a devoted and loving husband. Together, they had three children to whom he was a loving father; he never missed one of their activities, events, or sports games. As his children became adults, he performed each of their wedding ceremonies. A lover of people, Mike was a great friend to everyone and always offered a helping hand when he was able. He was often considered a good mentor and role-model. In his free time, he enjoyed playing with his kids and grandkids, along with watching Auburn football. His presence will be deeply missed by those he loved.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his brother, Philip Campbell, Jr. and son-in-law, Brian Schofill.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife, Sherry Campbell of Warner Robins; children, Kristin Schofill of Warner Robins, Ashlee Harden (Terrance) of Warner Robins, and Josh Campbell (Ashley) of Savannah; grandchildren, Gracelyn Robinson, Jakob Schofill, Averi Schofill, and Cason Crum; siblings, Ann Sisson (Danny) of Warner Robins, and Kayleen Mims (Al) of Kathleen; his cousin who was like a brother, Bill Tillman (Julie); best friend, Marty Durden (Marie), along with many nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 21, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 22, 2024, at Southside Baptist Church. Afterward, Mike will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
