On Sunday, January 14, 2018, Michael Dwayne Dimsdale, Sr. passed away at home where he was surrounded by his loving family. Born in 1945 on Robins Air Force Base, Michael was the son of the late Harvey and Euna Evans Dimsdale.
Growing up in Warner Robins, Michael enjoyed playing baseball as a child. He attended Warner Robins High School where he enjoyed playing trumpet and guitar in the band and taking part in the annual Warner Robins High School Follies. Following graduation, he worked briefly for Coca Cola and Warner Robins Supply. He then began his career at Robins Air Force Base, from which he would eventually retire as an Electronics Supervisor. He truly enjoyed work of all kinds, especially anything that involved working with his hands. There was very little he could not do and, in addition to his work at Robins, he spent many years installing carpet, doing carpentry, and various remodeling projects. He also owned and managed numerous rental properties.
Michael had a love for old cars and enjoyed attending car shows, most notably the annual Daytona Turkey Rod Run which he attended many times. He also enjoyed watching Nascar and spending time in the company of family and friends. He was fun and had an outgoing nature; if you knew him you know he loved to talk. If he was in the room, getting a word in could be difficult! Above all, Michael loved his family deeply and was strong in his Christian faith. In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his sister, Valeria Dimsdale Allmon, and his brother, Curtis Donald Dimsdale.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of nearly 35 years, Diane Gaskins Dimsdale, Warner Robins; children, Karen Dimsdale Shelley (Tim), Warner Robins; Michael Dwayne Dimsdale, Jr. (Chelsey), Camden County, GA; David Dimsdale (Julie), Kathleen; Kimberly Dimsdale Mileski (Darvin), Roswell; Matthew Dustin Dimsdale (Heather), Warner Robins; grandchildren, Hunter, Jessica, Elizabeth, Michael III, Tucker, Taylor, Tru, Rowan, Fost, Chloe, and Jacob; as well as 12 step-grandchildren, 8 nieces and nephews, and many friends. He will be genuinely missed by all who knew him.
Visitation with Michael’s family will be Wednesday, January 17, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2018, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Rev. Jay Tucker officiating.
