Michael Thomas Holloway

October 5, 1951 — October 4, 2021

Michael Thomas Holloway passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 4, 2021, one day before his 70th birthday, leaving a legacy of love and compassion.

A class of 1969 Warner Robins High School graduate, Michael went on to the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, where he played collegiate baseball and pursued his passion for building and architecture, earning his bachelor of science in building construction. Following graduation, Michael put his studies and lifelong passion to work constructing homes and restaurants throughout the Southeast before ultimately founding Holben Construction Company in 1989 in Tampa, Florida. Over the course of thirteen years, Michael grew the company from a small warehouse office to a national operation serving clients from Florida in the Southeast to Missouri in the Midwest. Michael’s love for business drove the company’s impressive growth until he suffered a life-altering stroke in 2002.

Michael raised his family in Brandon, Florida, where he also served as a community leader. His love of people, unwavering generosity, and warm spirit touched many across religious, youth, athletic, and community organizations. Michael volunteered his time, experience, and expertise in a number of formal and informal roles, including neighborhood and regional church leader, scout leader, baseball and soccer coach, and more.

In 2009, Michael returned home to Warner Robins, Georgia. Upon his return, Michael reunited with family and lifelong friends, reengaging with the community he loved dearly. He continued to impart kindness and determination wherever he ventured, from local stores to Friday night high school football games, always flashing his bright smile to strangers and loved ones alike. Often reserved in his own expression, Michael had a deep love for the arts and found solace and inspiration in the creativity of the world around him.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny L. and Charlotte Bennett Holloway.

Survivors include his son, Jonathan Holloway of Detroit, Michigan; daughters, Megan Dodson (Greg) of Tampa, Florida and Kayla Holloway of Salt Lake City, Utah; three grandchildren, sister, Pamela Clanton of Knoxville, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews as well as other extended family and friends.

Michael will be laid to rest at a graveside service starting at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 11, 2021 in Magnolia Park Cemetery. For friends unable to attend at this time, the service will be streamed live via the McCullough Funeral Home Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mcculloughfuneralhome/live/.
