Mildred Virginia Wells Chriss

Mildred Chriss, 78, went home to Jesus on Sunday, June 6, 2010.

Born November 29, 1931, she was the daughter of the late William T. Wells of Newton County and Dovie Eunice Jackson Wells of Jones County. Mrs. Chriss was among the first telephone operators in Warner Robins and was employed with the phone company during the conversion from switchboard connections to the dial system. She retired from Southern Bell in 1993 with thirty years service.

She loved the Lord with all her heart and was active at the First Free Will Baptist Church. A longtime resident of Warner Robins, she was a former member at Green Acres Baptist Church and also attended First Assembly Church of God.

She is survived by her children, Vonda Chriss Valasky (Frank); Trish Chriss, and Greg Chriss, all of Warner Robins; and Jeff Chriss (Mitzi) of St. Petersburg, Florida; grandchildren, Shalaé Chriss Lechuga, Aaron Valasky, Catlin Chriss, and Ryan Valasky; great-grandchildren, River and Reef Lechuga; sisters, Ina Connell, Tressie Ruberti, and Rita Harwell; brother, Thomas L. Wells, all of Warner Robins; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, several aunts and uncles. She was a great mom, grandma, sister, aunt and friend and will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents as well as sisters, Eunice Peacock, Gradice Carr, Carrie Lee Williams, Marie Lingelbach and brothers, William Wells, Julius Wells, and Charles Wells.

Visitation will be Friday evening, June 11, 2010 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 12, 2010, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations to First Free Will Baptist Church, 316 Phillips Street Warner Robins, GA 31088 or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 2302 Parklake Drive N. E., Atlanta, GA 30345.
