In the afternoon of Friday, November 18, 2022, Milford Hayes, 95, joined his Lord and Savior in heaven.
Milford was born on April 20, 1927, in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late John Thomas and Vernon Cline Hayes. Growing up on the family farm in Dalton, Georgia, he attended Dawnville and Pleasant Grove High schools where he graduated in 1945. Following graduation, Milford worked on the family farm until he was drafted into the United States Army in 1952, where he served with honor in the Korean War. Milford worked in accounting at Fairbanks Manufacturing in Rome, Georgia prior to beginning his career in Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base in 1959. In 1988, after twenty-nine years of dedicated service Milford retired from Robins Air Force Base. He started H&T carpets in 1961 and retired for the final time in 2009. Outside of working, Milford enjoyed gardening, faithfully attending Mikado Baptist Church and spending time with his beloved family. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Raymond Hayes, Grady Hayes, Sybil Ridley, and Vivian Headrick and his first wife, Betty Jean Hayes.
His memory will forever be treasured by his adoring wife Sandra Hayes; daughter, Melony Parker (Andrew); son, Tommy Hayes (Kristal); four grandchildren, Meredith Snyder (Nick), Graham Parker (Victoria), Shelby Hayes and John Thomas Hayes, V; great granddaughter, Molly Jean Snyder and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation with Milford’s family will be Monday, November 21, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Reverend Rick Odom officiating. A committal service will be held for family and friends on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Parkway Memorial Gardens where he will be laid to rest. For friends and family unable to attend, the service will be streamed live via the McCullough Funeral Home Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mcculloughfuneralhome/live/.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Milford Hayes to Gideons International at P.O. Box 537 in Warner Robins, Georgia 31099 or Deep Springs Baptist Church Cemetery at 1660 Beaverdale Road NE in Dalton, Georgia 30721.
