Early on the morning of Monday, January 4, 2021, Miriam Jenkins Daniel passed peacefully after a brief battle with COVID-19. She was 90 years old. We will miss her smile, her laugh, her love.
Mrs. Daniel was born in Sylvania, Georgia on May 13, 1930, to Arnold and Lola (Griner) Jenkins. She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Daniel. Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving children, Diann Jackson (Wayne) of Ooltewah, Tennessee and Karen Dunkley (Bruce-d) of Roswell, Georgia; her grandchildren, Lindsay Ridenour, Caitlin Long, Logan Jackson, and Jake Dunkley, as well as her great grandchildren Penny, Noah, and Jackson. Miriam was preceded in death by her sister, Mardell Brinson of Statesboro, as well as her brothers, Cleo Jenkins and Lavaughn Jenkins of Savannah. She loved her many nieces, nephews, and countless other extended family members and friends.
Miriam, or “Pete” as she was nicknamed by a brother (a story we may never fully know), loved to laugh and did so often with her small circle of friends throughout her life and was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Warner Robins for many decades.
Mrs. Daniel worked alongside her husband, John, in their insurance company, International Insurance, a company they built from the ground up in Warner Robins. She then went on to work at Citizen State Bank for many years before retiring. A naturally talented and self-taught sewist, Miriam made most everything her daughters would grow up wearing, including their beautiful wedding gowns. She took pride in her abilities and enjoyed making lovely things, including many masterful pieces of needlepoint, for most of her life. We expect these beautiful works will be passed on for generations.
The graveside memorial service celebrating Mrs. Daniel’s life will be Friday, January 8, 2021 at 3:00 p.m., at Screven County Memorial Cemetery, 810 E. Ogeechee Street, Sylvania, Georgia 30467. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made in memory of Miriam Daniel to Summer’s Landing Activities Fund, 600 S. Kimberly Road, Warner Robins, Georgia 31088.
