Monroe E. "Abe" Abram

April 3, 1933 — January 3, 2025

Warner Robins

Monroe Edward Abram departed us on January 3, 2025.

Monroe was born on April 3, 1933, in Macon, GA the oldest of 3 children to Monroe R. Abram and Helen P. Abram. His siblings were Bernadine A. Bailey and Bernard D. Abram. He was baptized as a young child at St Peter Claver Catholic Church and was an alumnus of St Peter Claver School. During his childhood and early adult life he was a faithful, dedicated and very involved member of the parish.

As a young man, Monroe moved to New York City and, while there, he was drafted into the Army serving during the Korean War. Once he was honorably discharged, he worked various jobs and spent time living in California and Philadelphia. He eventually returned to Georgia in the early 1960’s and began working at Robins Air Force Base. He worked in multiple areas there and retired from there after 35 years.

Prior to his retirement, Monroe returned to school and became a Drug and Alcohol Addiction Rehabilitation Counselor. He relied on his personal experiences and life lessons with addiction to help others in their journeys. There are many people from the military, public and private sector that benefitted from and are thankful for his intervention and counsel in their lives. For him it was fulfilling to see others achieve positive recovery, changing their lives even after others had given up on them. He has received many awards, Certificates and accommodations for his counseling work.

After his Civil Service retirement, he continued working as a Counselor for an additional 25 years and worked for several hospitals and as an independent consultant.

Monroe was married for 46 years to the late Joan F. Abram, and they spent over 40 years as residents of Warner Robins, Georgia. They were both dedicated and involved members of Sacred Heart Parrish and he worked with various groups within the community including Alcoholics Anonymous. They spent their last years being loved and cared for as residents of Antebellum Grove Assisted Living Community.

In addition to his parents, Monroe was preceded in death by his wife, siblings, and nephew, Michael Abram.

Those left to treasure a lifetime of memories are his son, Monroe J. Abram, daughter-in-law, Kimberly Abram, his 4 grandchildren, Maya Abram, Arianna Abram, Jamison Abram, and Ella Abram, along with 7 nephews, 2 nieces, 2 sisters-in-law, and a host of friends and colleagues.
