Msgt. Alton Robert "Red/Mickey" Chesley, Usaf (Ret)

Alton Robert Chesley, 83, passed away after an extended illness on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on September 5, 1930 in Fort Fairfield, Maine to the late Alton Stevens Chesley and Beatrice Whitney Chesley. Alton grew up in East Corinth, Maine and graduated from East Corinth Academy in 1950. He attended Beale Business College until he entered the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country for twenty-three years retiring as a Master Sergeant. Alton also retired from Robins Air Force Base where he was employed in Civil Service as an F-15 aircraft mechanic. His church home was the Assembly at Warner Robins, Georgia. Alton was a member of several military organizations and the Centerville and Warner Robins Senior Citizens Clubs. He was a Mason, as well, and belonged to the Olive Branch Lodge #124 in Charleston, Maine.

Alton enjoyed his retirement at Lake Sinclair and the many family gatherings there. He also enjoyed camping and traveling with his wife, living nine years in a travel trailer and visiting every state and most of our beautiful National Parks before returning to live in Warner Robins, Georgia. Alton treasured all the friends he made here and delighted in the many activities and celebrations of his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Margaret Hafey Chesley; sister and brother-in-law, Anne Chesley Wiggin (Floyd); sister, Winona Chesley Ugone; sisters-in-law, Carolyn "Jeannie" Higgins Chesley, Mildred Tate Balthis and Sandra Tate Blackwell.

Alton's memory will forever be treasured by his devoted wife of sixty years, Hildred Tate Chesley of Warner Robins, Georgia; daughters, Bonnie Franklin and friend, Ed Stolzenbach of Easley, South Carolina and Trina Collins (Tom) of Perry, Georgia; brother, Roger Chesley of Corinth and Sebec Lake, Maine; grandchildren, Jennifer Collins Spivey of Perry, Georgia, Tony Collins (Julie-Ann) of Cumming, Georgia, Melissa Collins Riley (Brad) of Reynolds, Georgia, Michael Collins and friend, Amanda Graham of Kathleen and Megan Franklin of Davie, Florida; and great-grandchildren, Maggie, Jacob and Katie Spivey, all of Perry, Georgia and Maddie Collins of Cumming, Georgia; brothers-in-law, James Ugone of Naples, Florida, Kenneth Tate (Beverly) of Corinth, Maine, and Earl Blackwell of Levant, Maine; sisters-in-law, Lois Tate Crane (Neil) of Dexter, Maine and Pearl Tate Campbell of Bangor, Maine; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Reverend Richard Asbell and Reverend Glynn D. Grantham will officiate. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow in Magnolia Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given to Serenity Hospice Care, 1057 N. Houston Rd,, Warner Robins, GA 31093.
