MSgt. Emory Don Hemphill, USAF (Ret.), 80, passed away at Piedmont Macon Medical Center on the morning of Thursday, November 11, 2021.
In Ashburn, Georgia, on September 11, 1941, Emory was born to the late Willie I. and Mildred Hines Hemphill. As a young man, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He courageously served his country for several years and retired with the rank of Master Sergeant. His service to his country continued as Emory worked as a civilian on Robins Air Force Base until his second and final retirement.
Emory enjoyed fishing, traveling, woodworking, and working in his yard during his golden years. He also loved anything to do with classic cars and collecting antiques. He was of the Methodist faith. A man of honor, Emory and will be remembered for the sacrifices he made serving God, his homeland, and his family.
In addition to his parents, Emory was preceded in death by his wife, Donna “Jane” Molton Hemphill; and siblings, Linda Horne, Tommy Wayne Hemphill, and Rita Hamm; and his sister-in-law, Rebecca Molton Bullock of Warner Robins.
His memory will forever be treasured by his children, Emory “Don” Hemphill II (Paula) of Columbus, MS, Vicki Lynn Edwards (David) of Ashburn, and Kathy Ann Richards (Kevin) of Augusta; step-son, Kevin Armstrong of Macon; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Gloria Ann Fowler; brother-in-law, Lynn Reid Molton (Dianne) of Macon; as well as many other extended family members and friends.
Visitation with Emory’s family will be Tuesday, November 16, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The graveside funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at Parkway Memorial Gardens where Emory will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife of 38 years, Donna “Jane” Molton Hemphill.
