George Poore, 75, entered into rest on Wednesday, February 6, 2013.
Mr. Poore was born on June 2, 1937 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Ira Brady Poore and Lena Mae Ashby. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps for four years, and retired with the rank of Master Sergeant from the Air Force after eighteen years. After retiring from the military, he retired from the Office of Personnel Management in Macon after seventeen years. Mr. Poore was a devoted member of First Christian Church of Warner Robins and the American Legion. In addition to his parents, sisters, Iris M. Neblett and Margie Weaver, preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his wife, Betty Lou Poore of fifty-three years, Centerville; children, George M. Poore, Jr. (Sheryl), Centerville and Cheryl A. Dilks (Mike), Bonaire; grandsons, Tyler and Dylan Dilks, both of Bonaire; siblings, Robert Len Poor, Nashville, Tennessee; James L. Poore, Collierville, Tennessee; and Barbara A. King, Woodburn, Oregon; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, February 8, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2013 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with entombment following in Magnolia Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 886 Mulberry Street, Macon, GA 31201.
