On the afternoon of Thursday, June 2, 2016, James Hoke Parnell left this world to join his beloved wife, Jeanette Kirkland Parnell in Heaven. He was 80 years old.
Born and raised in Darlington, South Carolina, James was born one of ten children to the late Daniel and Mattie Mae Dutton Parnell. He proudly joined the United States Air Force at a young age serving his country during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. James retired from the Air Force with the rank of Master Sergeant in 1980. Following his military career, he became one of the first employees of the Cascade Corporation from where he also retired.
James was a longtime member of Central Baptist Church and truly loved and lived his life by example, always putting his faith and family first. He always enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. James also enjoyed watching NASCAR, reading, and trains.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.
James leaves his memory behind with his loving children, Renee Heissenbuttle (Larry) of Charleston, South Carolina, Kirk Parnell (Robin) of Benton, Louisiana, Brett Parnell (Lucy) of Goose Creek, South Carolina, and Lisa Roitzsch (Fred) of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Trey Heissenbuttle, Cara Heissenbuttle, Ryan Parnell, Becca Tyra, Betsy Warthen, Lyn Kilmer, James Parnell, Trace Seiler, Jamie Roitzsch, Beth Roitzsch, and Carleigh Roitzsch; great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Kilmer; and a number of adoring nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 5th at Central Baptist Church with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. After the service, Mr. Parnell will be laid to rest in Parkway Memorial Gardens with Full Military Honors.
The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in memory of James to Heart of Georgia Hospice, 103 Westridge Drive, Warner Robins, GA 31088.
