MSgt. John Allen Hamrac, USAF (Ret.), 86, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2005 at Houston Medical Center. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, at Cope Funeral Home Chapel in Evergreen, Alabama with interment following in Belleville Baptist Church Cemetery, Belleville, Alabama. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 30 at Cope Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Georgia Sheriff Boys Ranch, 5671 Highway 122 East, Hahira, GA 31632 or Scottish Rite Hospital, 1001 Johnson Ferry Road, NE, Atlanta, GA 30342.
MSgt. Hamrac was born in Monroe, Alabama on August 28, 1918, to the late Joseph J. and Willie Mae Hamrac. He proudly served as a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force for 20 years and was a veteran of both WWII and the Korean Conflict. MSgt. Hamrac retired from Civil Service on Robins Air Force Base, where he worked as an Accounting Technician. MSgt. Hamrac was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church, Scottish Rite, the Mason Tyrian Lodge III and a lifetime member of the Sargeant’s Association. In addition to his parents, six brothers preceded him in death.
Survivors include, loving and devoted wife , Gladys Hamrac, Warner Robins, GA; two daughters, Sue Roller, Lawrenceville, GA and Dorice Perryman, Conroe, TX; one brother, Clarence Hamrac, Evergreen, AL; four stepchildren, Waldo Odom, Crestview, FL; Roy Odom, Cary, GA; Jackie Resinger, Milledgeville, GA; and Janet Wilkins, Canton, GA; and nine grandchildren.
