John Hawthorne, 73, went to Heaven on Thursday, November 12, 2015.
On January 5, 1942, John was born in Gordon, Georgia to the late John Winfred and Helen Billue Hawthorne. For 22 years, he served his country with honor in the United States Air Force before retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant. John also went on to retire from Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base.
He loved the Lord. John was a member of First Baptist Church Warner Robins where he sang in the church choir. He also loved fishing, cooking, and planning family activities, especially fish fry's. With all of the things he took pleasure in; spoiling his grandchildren was his most favorite pastime.
John leaves his memory behind with his loving wife of 36 years, Linda J. Hawthorne of Warner Robins; daughters, Lisa Morris (Mike) of Byron, Connie Lessard (Emory) of Ludington, Michigan, Wendy Bellamy (Will) of Bonaire, and Angela Hamilton (Robert Molton) of Port St. Lucie, Florida; grandchildren, Ashley, Stephen, Katherine, Shea, Robby, Victoria, Alexis, and Brandon; brother Don Hawthorne of Greenville, South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 16, 2015 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of John Hawthorne to the Winship Cancer Institute, 1365 Clifton Road NE, Atlanta, GA 30322.
