MSgt. Jonathan Scott Kenton, USAF (Ret.), a dedicated patriot, devoted husband, father, son, and friend, passed away on January 16, 2025, just three days shy of his 54th birthday. He was born to Robert Kenton and Rita Carson Denzin, in Memphis, Tennessee, on January 19, 1971. His life was defined by his unwavering love for his country, his faith, and his family.
Scott proudly served in the United States Air Force, where he had a distinguished career that spanned many years. Rising through the ranks, he retired as a Master Sergeant, a testament to his dedication, leadership, and the respect he earned from his peers. Following his military service, Scott continued his service to his country and community as a Logistics Manager at Robins Air Force Base, where he worked in civil service. He was highly regarded for his strong work ethic, professionalism, and commitment to excellence.
A man of deep faith, Scott was a devout Christian who not only attended church regularly but also served on the Safety Team, always looking out for the well-being of others. His faith was a guiding force in his life, and he took comfort in knowing that he was part of a greater purpose.
Scott was a devoted father who cherished his children above all else, a loving son to his parents, and a loyal friend to those who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a big-hearted "Teddy bear" who would do anything to help others, yet he was also a fierce protector of those he loved. His sense of humor and infectious laughter brought joy to all who encountered him. Scott had the rare ability to make anyone feel welcome, and he never met a stranger. His compassion and selflessness touched the lives of many.
A true outdoorsman, Scott loved spending time in nature. He also had a deep love for football, particularly as a lifelong fan of the Tennessee Volunteers. His enthusiasm for the sport was infectious, and he found great joy in watching the games and sharing that passion with his family and friends.
Scott’s loyalty to his loved ones, his country, and his faith was unmatched. He was strong, selfless, and dedicated to helping those in need. Scott was the kind of person who would go out of his way to assist others, often without seeking recognition. His sense of duty, compassion, and generosity made him a beloved figure to all who knew him.
Scott’s legacy will live on in the hearts of his children, family, friends, and colleagues. He leaves behind a profound impact on all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit, humor, and devotion to others will be remembered forever.
Scott is survived by his wife, Karen; children, Jonathan Scott Kenton, Jr. (Chloe) of Gulf Breeze, Florida and Thomas Kenton (Ashley) of Fairhope, Alabama; grandchild, Brynley; parents, Robert Kenton, and Rita Carson Denzin; aunt, Vickie Carson; and a host of family and friends.
The family will greet friends during a visitation on Monday, January 20, 2025, at Shirley Hills Baptist Church, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with a funeral service immediately following. Afterward, Scott will be laid to rest privately in Andersonville National Cemetery.
