Msgt. Joseph Gordon Brooks, Usaf (Ret.)

Joseph "Joe" Gordon Brooks, 81, entered into rest on Friday, February 27, 2009.

Mr. Brooks was born on December 2, 1927 in Butts County. With pride and honor, he served his country in the United States Air Force, and participated in World War II, the Vietnam War, and the Korean Conflict. After retiring from the military in March 1966, he worked as a civil servant Warehousing Superintendent and retired from Robins Air Force Base. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Louise Holmes Brooks; son, Gwendal G. Brooks; and parents, Henry C. Brooks and Susan E. Shadrix Brooks.

His memory will forever be treasured by his sons, Kenneth Gordon (Angie) Brooks, Bonaire; Danney Lee (Linda) Brooks, Bonaire; and Henry Ray Brooks, Harrodsburg, Kentucky; grandchildren, Joe Brooks, Adona Brooks, Carrie Watson, John Smith, Jr., and David Green; and great-grandchildren, Alexis Brooks, Amber Brooks, Ashley Watson, Dustin Watson, Jennifer Smith and Jessica Smith.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 1, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 2, 2009 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home, Reverend Paul Cowles officiating. Entombment will follow in Magnolia Park Mausoleum.
