LeRoy Geyman, 80, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2016.
LeRoy was born on October 21, 1935 in Big Flats, Wisconsin to the late John and Olivia Standish Geyman. With great pride and honor he served in the National Guard before joining the United States Navy and later the United States Air Force from which he retired. Following his years of active duty, LeRoy worked as a Mechanical Engineer Technician at Robins Air Force Base. He was a lifetime member of Byron United Methodist Church. LeRoy was a former Commissioner and Scout Leader of the Boy Scouts of America. He was a member of the Byron's Lions Club where he was elected and served two years as President, one year as Lion Tamer, and was awarded the Melvin Jones award for service in the lion's club of America. This is the highest award given to a member in the Lions Clubs of America. LeRoy was also awarded the Mary Murphy award for volunteering in his home community. He was a member of the Byron United Serving Together (BUST) and the scrapbooking club. LeRoy was an avid Atlanta Braves Fan and loved to write stories. In his spare time, He enjoyed singing and playing the bells in the Angel Choir and reigning as Prom King at Pine Gate.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sons, Brian David and John William Geyman, granddaughter, Kimberly Bagley, and his ten siblings.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 58 years, Gaylene Geyman of Macon; children, Christal Lewis (James) of Centerville; Robert Geyman of Perry; Susan Usry (Frankie) of Rome; Kimberly Rhoton (Boyd) of Knoxville; Roselyn Geyman of Charleston, South Carolina; 16 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
Visitation with LeRoy's family will be Friday, September 30, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A second visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2016 with funeral services immediately following at 2:00 p.m. at Byron United Methodist Church. LeRoy will be laid to rest in Andersonville National Cemetery in a private ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of LeRoy Geyman to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105.
