Msgt Melvin Lee Gerdes, Usaf (Ret)

Melvin Lee Gerdes, 66, entered into rest on Monday, April 23, 2012.

Melvin was born on January 5, 1946 in Barnum, Iowa. He was an active member of All Saints Episcopal Church. With pride and honor, MSgt Gerdes retired from the United States Air Force. Subsequent to his military retirement he also retired from Robins Air Force Base where he worked in civil service as an Inventory Management Specialist. Melvin enjoyed spending time with his family and walking and running in 5k events for various charities. His parents, Ben and Gertrude Gerdes, and siblings, Charles Gerdes and Marlene Junkman, all preceded him in death.

His memory will forever be treasured by his beloved wife, Linda S. Gerdes, Warner Robins; daughter and son in law, Sarah M. Henderson (Doug); brothers and sisters in law, Edwin Gerdes (Carol), Robert Gerdes (Kathy), and so many other loving family members and friends.

A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 27 2012 in All Saints Episcopal Church with Father Martin J. Bagay officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations to Heart of Georgia Hospice, 103 Westridge Drive, Warner Robins, Georgia 31088.
