Robert “Robo” Sprague passed away at his residence on the morning of Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at the age of 56. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on March 4, 1965, he was the son of Betty Sprague and the late Bill Sprague, who passed away in 2001. In December of 1983, Robo enlisted in the United States Air Force where he led a successful career for over 23 years. While serving his country, he achieved a number of awards and decorations to include: the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award and the National Defense Service Medal. Robo retired in June of 2006 while serving with the Black Knights at Robins Air Force Base. Following his career in the USAF, he continued service to his country as a security specialist in Civil Service at RAFB.
A Dale Earnhardt enthusiast, Robo was an avid hunter and sportsman who loved all children. He absolutely enjoyed being Santa Claus for the Boy Scouts, for special needs children for Macon Autism, and for several local photographers during the Christmas season. Robo was even a member of the International Real Bearded Santas! Additionally, he was a lifetime member of the VFW and President of the Taylor Hunting Club and of several bowling leagues at RAFB through the years.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Rawni Lynn Mankey Sprague; his daughter, Autumn Lynn Leonard and her fiancé, Brandon Hall; his mother, Betty Sprague; his sister, Rindy Brown and her husband, Jeff; his mother-in-law, Mary Kiger; and his furbabies, Bristol, Buford, Smoke, Dega, Nugget and Chewey.
A Celebration of Life will take place from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at the VFW Post #6605, 1011 Corder Rd., Warner Robins, GA 31088.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in memory of Robo to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256, to help prevent veteran suicide.
