Rodney Gilmore, 54, passed away at the Coliseum Hospital on Tuesday, February 14, 2017.
Rodney was born on December 10, 1962 in New Haven, Connecticut to the late Norman and Sandra Gilmore. Following high school he joined the United States Air Force where he proudly served over 20 years, before retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant. Rodney then worked for eleven years in civil service at Robins Air Force Base as an Aircraft Pneudraulic System Technician. He loved airplanes, especially the F-15 and the C-17. He also loved watching football and was an avid Pittsburg Steelers fan. Rodney was a wonderful story and joke teller, he always enjoyed making others laugh. He was an amazing father who truly loved spending time with his son.
His memory will forever be treasured by his son, Rodney Gilmore, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Ashley of Macon; sister, Dawn Gilmore; brothers, Jeffery Gilmore, Sr.; Guy Gilmore, Sr.; girlfriend, Norma Claire Simon of Atlanta; her children, Shaina Simon; Shivon Simon, and her grandchildren, Kel Simon and Levi Watkins
Visitation with Rodney's family will be Saturday, February 18, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 19, 2017 in the Chapel of McCullough, with full military honors. At the family's request burial will be private.
