Proud U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force Veteran, Thomas Delmar Lucas, walked into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, in the early morning hours of Saturday, February 19, 2022. He was 75 years old.
Born in Winchester, KY on June 24, 1946, Tom was the son of the late Oris Seldon and Ola B. Spry Lucas and was of the Baptist faith. He was a true patriot who revered our flag and was honored to have served his country for four years in the United States Navy and another 20 years in the United States Air Force. Tom retired from the USAF having attained the rank of Master Sergeant. Subsequent to his military career, he worked in finance and achieved a second retirement from Title Max.
Tom was a quick-witted and silly, yet humble, loving, open-hearted and sweet man. This was evident in the affection and love he consistently showered over his daughters; he was a great father. On top of being the best dad, he was a great husband to his wife, Hazel. He was a real romantic and never left her doubting how much he treasured her. Tom enjoyed being a member of Glenwood Hills Baptist Church in Macon where he served as a deacon and sang in the choir. Furthermore, he was an avid music lover, especially of Motown and Oldies music. Tom was very knowledgeable about the history of the musicians and songs alike. He had a strong love for dogs, cats and babies, as well. The legacy of Tom’s love and kindness will always be carried on through the lives of those he touched.
He is survived by his loving wife of 7 years, Hazel Lucas of Warner Robins; daughters, Jennifer Lucas of TN and Melanie Lucas of GA; stepchildren, Michael Duke (Rita) and Mandy Duke, both of GA and Michelle Lockhart (Mike) of SC; grandchildren, Megan, Jeremy and Ryan Poole; many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Richard Lucas (Sandy), Gerri More, Earl Lucas, Doug Lucas (Debi) and Joyce Lucas.
A memorial service to celebrate Thomas’s life will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 27, 2022, at Glenwood Hills Baptist Church, 3225 Rice Mill Road, Macon, GA 31206.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Tom to a local animal rescue of your choice.
