Centerville - MSgt. Wilbur Ali, age 67, passed away Friday April 18, 2003 in Nashville, TN. Services with military honors will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at 11:00am in First Baptist Church of Centerville, with interment following in Centerville Cemetery. A visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 7:00pm to 9:00pm in McCullough Funeral Home. MSgt. Ali was born on February 21, 1936, in New York City, NY. He was a Technical Supervisor & Instructor at Zantop International Airline after his retirement from the United States Army in 1978. Having served 2 tours in Vietnam, he was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor, Oak Leak Clusters, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, and two Purple Hearts among many others. An active member of Centerville Baptist Church, he was a member of Sutherlin Sunday School Class and had been a Sunday School Teacher. He was also a member of the ICBM Club. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lopez.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Ali, Centerville; four sons: Angelo Ali (Maria) Albany, CA; Vincent Ali (Cindy), Martinez, CA; David Ali (Marie), Hephzibah, GA; Russell Ali, Washougal, WA; five daughters: Jo Marie Ali, Stockton, CA; Kim Demoonie (Tim) Kathleen GA. Teresa Harris (Ray) Stockton GA; Laurie Ali, Stockton, CA; Nikki Reiser (Brandon), Warner Robins, GA; three step daughters: Tanya Grubbs (Travis), Statesboro, GA; Endia Holt (Scott), Jacksonville, FL; Amber Jones (Jeff), Temple, GA; one brother: Augie Lopez, three sisters: Xenia Gallego, Paulina Ibera, Newark CA, Dee Espanola, Freemont, CA and Fourteen grandchildren.
