Bill Colson, Jr. entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 24, 2017. He was 77 years old.
Bill was born in Tampa, Florida to the late Bonnie and William Henry Colson, Sr. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and served during the Korean War. Bill retired with the rank of Master Sergeant after 20 years of dedicated service. Following his military career, he worked in Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base as Director of Budget for the Air Force Reserve Headquarters and served a term at the Pentagon. Bill retired with 25 years in Civil Service. In his free time, he loved golfing and was a longtime member of the Houston Lake Country Club.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Farmer.
His memory will forever be treasured by his devoted wife of 57 years, Pamela Cotton Colson of Byron; children, Julie Ann Dunn (Roger) of Indian Harbour Beach, Florida and Matthew Allen Colson of Centerville; grandchildren, Kristopher Cole (Kate), Caley Danielle Hales, Erin Alyssa Minor (William Lee), and Jessica Lynn Colson; and great-grandchildren; Peyton Michael Emilio and Paisleigh Danielle Emilio.
A memorial service celebrating Bill’s life will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. At the family’s request, his burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial donations be given in memory of Mr. Colson to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
