Norman E. Ott, Sr., 89, entered into rest on Sunday, August 7, 2011.

Mr. Ott was born on November 26, 1921 in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. With pride and honor, he served his country in the United States Army, serving in the South Pacific during World War II. Returning to Middle Georgia, he guarded Italian prisoners at Camp Wheeler in Macon, Georgia. Skilled in automotive work, he was a teacher for eleven years, having worked nine at Middle Georgia Technical College.

He was a charter member of VFW Post 6126 Perry and Lifetime member of Durff-Kuhn Post #6168 VFW. An avid bowler, he was a charter member with the Warner Robins Bowlers Association and the Georgia State Bowlers Association; and was inducted into the State Hall and Local Hall of Fame. He also enjoyed playing golf, and was a member of Perry Country Club. He was preceded in death by his sister, Annabelle Spero; brothers, Stiles E. Ott, Jr., Charles L. Ott and Arthur Ott; and parents, Stiles Edward Ott Sr., and Margaret Pearl Durff.

His memory will forever be treasured by his beloved wife of forty-seven years, Shirley W.Ott; sons, Michael Ott (Bea) and Norman E. "Sparky" Ott, Jr., (Linda), Warner Robins; daughters, P. Dyanne Rizor (Dana), Crawford County, and Teresa Ott, Warner Robins; sisters, Mary Alleman, Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, Porche Reed (Dale), Pleasant Hall, Pennsylvania, and Beverly Gilbert, Newville, Pennsylvania; brothers, Ralph Ott (Pat), Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, and John Ott, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Susan O. Malcom (Shane), Kimberly D. Ott, Ashley K. Ott, Michael N. Ott, Ronny Slocumb, Shannon Bennett, Katrina Leatherwood, Chris Hyde, Michelle Sanders and Robert Reynolds, Jr. (Tracey); and a number of great-grandchildren, including Hunter Walling, Brantly Malcom and Landon M. Ott.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 10, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2011 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home, Reverend Lloyd Britt officiating. Interment will follow in Andersonville National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be made to the United States Bowling Congress Hall of Fame, 621 Six Flags Drive, Arlington Texas 76011, or the Middle Georgia United States Bowling Youth Program, 109 Ginko Lane, Kathleen Georgia 31047, or to the donor's favorite charity.
