Olgie “O.D.” Darrell Fielder, affectionately known as Paw Paw, 88, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2006. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11:00 on Friday, November 17, in Southside Baptist Church with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Serenity Gate Hospice 1120 Morningside DR Perry, GA 31069.
Mr. Fielder was born on September 29, 1918 in Cochran, Georgia. With loyalty and honor, Olgie served his country as a veteran of the US Army National Guard. During WWII, he was with the 121st Infantry, Company M Gray Bonnets. He earned a silver star during WWII and was a charter member of the WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C. Mr. Fielder retired from civil service at Robins Air Force Base. O.D. loved camping and fishing and with great pride taught his children and all of his grandsons to fish. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church where he was in the Joy Sunday School Class and the Amazing Grays. His loving wife of 62 years, Clara Garrett Fielder, parents, Ernest Edgar and Mattie Jane Wood Fielder, siblings, Geneva Berryhill, George Fielder, Harley Fielder, and Edgar Fielder, all preceded him in death.
Survivors include his children, Blaine Fielder (Donna), Gayle Thomas (Jim), all of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Jeffrey Fielder (Alisha), Warner Robins; Kevin Fielder (Abbey), Jacksonville, FL; Ricky Thomas, Carrollton; Johnny Thomas (Krishna) Warner Robins; great grandchildren, Christopher Thomas, Bryce Thomas, Evan Thomas and Kamryn Fielder.
