Mrs. Ollie Mae Akins passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at the age of 81. Born in Macon on July 25, 1939, Mrs. Akins was a lifelong resident of the middle Georgia area and a longtime housekeeper for Peachbelt Healthcare.
Selfless, generous and of the Baptist faith, Mrs. Akins fervently loved the Lord, her family and her grandchildren. She was a hard worker who knew the value of saving and stretching a dollar and was sure to teach her children to do the same. Though Mrs. Akins was quiet with a gentle spirit, you knew she meant business whenever she spoke! She was an excellent cook and loved all kinds of flowers. Mrs. Akins was always working to make her yard one of the most beautiful in the neighborhood.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 37 years, Willie Lee Akins, Jr.; her son, Jermaine Akins; her mother, Mattie L. Smith; and six brothers.
Mrs. Akins is survived by her children, Slina Huston of Centerville, and Teresa Brooks (Randy), Yvonne West and Eric Akins (Vanessa), all of Warner Robins; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; sisters, Lois Smith, Emma Smith and Annie Hickey; and a host of other loving family member and friends.
