Opal Brantley Wright, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 6, 2013.
Opal was born on November 24, 1925 in Pitts, Georgia to the late Robert Fulton and Zora Davis Brantley. She was a lovely homemaker and devoted herself to the raising of her children, the making of a home, and to providing inspiration to all who met her. She was a woman of faith, the anchor of the Wright family; and she shaped their spirituality by her tireless Christian example. To Opal, a Christian walk with the Lord was of the utmost importance and her character was built on her strong faith. She was a strong intercessory prayer warrior, and her legacy will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
A charter member of Southside Church of God, Opal was a devoted and adored member of the River of Light Church of God. She was also a member of the Ladies Tuesday Morning Prayer Group for twenty-five years and of several local senior citizens organizations. Opal volunteered for the Pink Ladies Auxiliary at Houston Healthcare and was an avid reader.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving children, Linda Wills, Warner Robins, Georgia; Randall Wright (Cheryl), Centerville, Georgia; Bobby Wright (Kathy), Warner Robins; Barry Wright, Atlanta, Georgia; Bonnie Cantrell (David), Griffin; Vickie Murray (Randolph), Alpharetta; special granddaughter, Kay Simmons; twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Alice Bullock, Smyrna, Georgia; and Grace Vogan, El Paso, Texas; daughter-in-law/sister, Evelyn Wright; and many loving nieces and nephews.
