Mrs. Opal C. Welty, 86, passed away on December 18, 2002 after an extended illness. She was the daughter of the late Seaborn J. Cheek and Mary Alice Agnew. A native of Pulaski and Bibb Counties, Mrs. Welty was one of the first individuals employed at Robins Air Force Base in 1941. She was eventually promoted to the office of Production Controller in Materiel Management, and ultimately retired from Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base. In addition, Mrs. Welty was a Chief Petty Officer in the Naval Air Reserve.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Alicia Callahan and Dr. Dan Callahan of Centerville; three grandsons, R. Charles Causey of Center, AL; Chris A. Causey of Byron; Dr. David L. Causey of Warner Robins; ten great-grandchildren and one great great-grandson.
Visitation will be at McCullough Funeral Home from 7:00 until 9:00 pm on Friday, December 20. Services will be held on Saturday, December 21 at 1:00 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Warner Robins with entombment following in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
