Ophelia Rigdon, 81, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2005. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 4, 2005 at Hardison Baptist Church in Byron with interment following in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday, December 3, 2005 from 6 until 8 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Source of Light Ministries International, 1011 Mission Road, Madison, Georgia 30650.
Mrs. Rigdon was born in Rome, Georgia. She was a member of Hardison Baptist Church where she taught the Ladies Sunday School Class for the past thirty years and was a member of Happy Hearts. She taught quilting and won numerous awards for her quilts. For many years she read the Biblical Christmas story with flannelgraph at area schools. Her husband, Woodrow Wilson Rigdon and parents, Paul and Burma Hammonds, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her children, Burma Abbott (Zane), Japan; George Carmen; John Rigdon (Lorene), South Carolina; Joy Hopkins (Danny), Tennessee; Jeanette Dunlap (Dennis), Pennsylvania; Judy Brown (Mike), South Carolina; Jerry Rigdon (Judy), Georgia; twenty-one grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
