In the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 29, 2020, Orville Edward Fairchild passed away peacefully at home. He was 88 years old.
Orville was born in Collins, Mississippi, to the late William Edward “Ed” and Lula Fairchild, on October 1, 1931. He retired from Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base as a Sheet Metal Technician. Orville enjoyed spending his free time farming, gardening, and hunting, but being with his family was what made him the happiest.
In addition to his parents, Orville was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy Fairchild; granddaughter, Jennifer C. Bryant; siblings, Robert Neal Fairchild, Ruby Nell Lewis, and Harriet Benson; and sons-in-law, Tracy Howard and William Smith.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving children, Josie Pritchard, Melonie Smith, and Gloria Howard; grandchildren, Wayne Cowan, Jr. (Dana) and Bruce Cowan (Augusta), George Lane Fairchild, Victoria Ann-Marie Carter (Jason), Rebecca Ida-Ivy Smith, Lee Edward Stephenson (Hannah), Tiffany Faithe Howard (Robby), Stephanie Grace Graydon (Forrest), Travis Randall Howard (Kathleen), and Wesley Daniel Howard; great-grandchildren, Cameron Scott Cowan (Tersa), Alexander Tyler Cowan, Lexie Marie Cowan, Trenton Bruce Cowan, Grant Edward Cowan, Deaven Taylor Coleman (Chip), Seth Michael Bryant, Madison Ann-Fayme Bryant, CC Marie Blackwell, Angela Dawn Fairchild, Russell Blake Fairchild, Orville Edward Fairchild II, George Lane Fairchild, Jr., Jason Dane Carter, Bryanne Carter, James Bryant Carter, Karlee Bell Carter, Mason Andrew Smith, Ammiee Nichole Smith, Matthew Hunter Smith, Emma Lee Smith, Joshua Roberts, William Roberts, Trey Roberts, Moonstar Wallace, Cloud Wallace, Jameson Howard, and Chloe Graydon; great-great-grandchildren, Roland Cowan, Jennifer Lynn Coleman, and Remeigh Lake Carter; and brothers, Sonny and Stuart Fairchild.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 4, 2020, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m., in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Pastor Matt Walls officiating. Orville will be laid to rest in Parkway Memorial Gardens in a private graveside service for the family.
